growing the mushroom of clarity

part 1 of the growth series: tending the roots of mind, memory, and renewal

Growing Lion’s Mane is an invitation into living alchemy—where you become the caretaker of a quiet, intelligent organism that mirrors your own capacity for renewal. This simple ritual of nurturing mycelium into bloom reconnects you to pace, patience, and presence. As the mushroom forms its cascading white tendrils, you witness the same truth woven through all healing: growth begins in stillness, flourishes with intention, and reveals its medicine in time.

Cultivation Guide

1. Prepare Your Cultivation Space

Choose a cool, clean space with indirect light.

Ideal temperature: 18–24°C (65–75°F)

Avoid drafts, heaters, or direct sun. Set your grow block on a clean tray.

2. Make the Cut

Use a sterile knife to cut an “X” or “H” shape into the pre-marked grow bag area.

Gently fold back the flaps. This allows oxygen to reach the mycelium.

3. Initial Misting

Spray 15–30 ml of water directly inside the flaps to moisten the substrate.

Repeat every other day until baby mushrooms (“pins”) appear.

4. Create a Humid Sanctuary

Lightly mist the inside of the humidity tent.

Place it loosely over the grow block.

Maintain 85–95% humidity by misting 2–3× per day.Replace this text with your content

5. Allow Fresh Air Exchange (FAE)

Remove the tent for 30–60 minutes daily to release CO₂.

Alternatively, poke 5–10 extra holes in the tent for passive airflow.

🕯️ Fresh air ensures dense, healthy mushrooms. Without it, fruit may be wispy or thin.

6. Watch the Life Cycle

  • Days 6–10: White fuzz appears—pinning begins.
  • Days 10–14: Fruiting bodies form—golf-ball sized clusters.
  • Days 14–24: Spines grow—your Lion’s Mane takes shape.

7. Harvest with Reverence

Harvest when:

  • Spines are long and white
  • Texture is soft and springy
  • No yellowing is visible

Gently twist and pull the mushroom from the base, or slice cleanly.

“From what has rooted in stillness, I receive what is mine to embody.”

Final Rest

Once fruiting has ceased:

  • Compost the grow block
  • Bury it in a garden bed
  • Use it to inoculate a hardwood log
  • Expand the mycelium using sterilized straw

Our Promise

Wildcrafted. Slow-steeped. Uncompromising.

Every preparation is created as I would craft it for my own home — with reverence, discipline, and care.
